The wonderful teams from Tyrepower Te Aroha, PioPio and Whitianga have chosen Hospice Waikato as their charity of choice and each year, since 2019, they have been promoting hospice services to their customers who have, in turn, been donating in support of Hospice Waikato. Hospice care is important. Each year, the Waikato based organisation delivers specialist community palliative care throughout the Waikato, caring for terminally ill patients where the GP or Hospital has requested the expertise of hospice. And whilst hospice has an 11-bed Inpatient Unit in Hamilton, 95% of their patients are cared for in their own homes.

Throughout the geographically and culturally diverse Waikato region, Hospice Waikato has a rural community nursing team who spend their days visiting patients at home, with our specialist medical team offering timely support via video calls. With approximately 70% of funding coming from the Government, community support such as that provided by Tyrepower is crucially important.
