Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5

Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5
The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 is a premium ultra-high performance summer tyre that earned an outstanding reputation during its time at the top of Goodyear’s passenger tyre range — and still represents an exceptional choice for performance car drivers seeking UHP capability with luxurious ride comfort and outstanding wet weather safety. Consistently ranked at the very top of independent UHP tyre tests — with testers noting it as “a tyre with almost no weaknesses” — the Asymmetric 5 delivers excellent grip in both dry and wet conditions, very short wet braking distances, high aquaplaning resistance, and the kind of confident, balanced handling that makes every drive more rewarding. Now the generation below the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6, it continues to offer superb value for drivers who want proven premium UHP performance.

Features and Benefits

  • Highly refined compound with extra silica load: A premium tread compound loaded with a high concentration of silica delivers shorter braking distances in both wet and dry conditions, while simultaneously providing the flexibility and grip needed for confident all-conditions performance throughout the summer season.
  • ActiveBraking Technology: An innovative technology that actively extends the contact patch under braking — increasing the amount of rubber in contact with the road precisely when stopping power is most needed, contributing to measurably shorter braking distances in both wet and dry conditions.
  • Power Cushion Technology for dry handling precision: A specialised cushion layer beneath the tread ensures precise, efficient power transmission between the tyre and the road — delivering the excellent dry handling response and steering precision that performance car drivers expect from a UHP summer tyre.
  • UHP Cool Cushion Layer with asymmetric bottom layer: A unique dual-layer construction beneath the tread manages heat build-up and optimises the tread’s contact behaviour, working with the asymmetric bottom layer to improve handling stability and maintain consistent performance across varying road surfaces and temperatures.
  • Asymmetric tread design with dry and wet traction zones: The asymmetric tread layout dedicates distinct zones to dry performance and wet weather safety — the outer shoulder maximises dry cornering grip and lateral stability, while the inner section focuses on water evacuation and aquaplaning resistance for confident wet weather braking and handling.
  • Very high aquaplaning resistance: Independent test results consistently rate the Asymmetric 5 among the very best in its class for aquaplaning resistance — maintaining confident grip and braking on wet and rain-soaked surfaces where the risk of sudden traction loss is highest.
  • Outstanding wet braking performance: Multiple independent test programmes rank the Asymmetric 5 at or near the top for wet braking distances — a critical real-world safety advantage that makes a genuine difference on New Zealand’s frequently wet roads.
  • Optimised cavity and tread pattern for noise reduction: The tread pattern geometry and internal cavity design work together to reduce road noise and vibration at speed, delivering a quieter, more refined cabin experience that matches the premium nature of the vehicles this tyre is designed for.
  • Sound Comfort Technology — SCT (select fitments): An acoustic foam layer inside the tyre further reduces road noise resonance for an even more refined cabin experience in select fitments — particularly beneficial on luxury performance vehicles where interior refinement is a priority.
  • Rim protection (select fitments): A reinforced rim protection zone guards against kerb and road damage in select fitments, providing an additional layer of protection for expensive alloy wheels during urban driving and parking.

In order for us to give you an accurate quote it is handy to have your tyre size to hand. The easiest way to find this is to look on the sidewall of your existing tyre, where you will see a combination of numbers and letters.

Width: (this is the first set of numbers) and represents the width of the tyre sidewall in Millimetres.

Profile: This is the height of the sidewall as a percentage of the width of the tyre

Rim: This is the diameter of the inner rim in inches

When looking for your tyre size note down the size of both the front and rear tyres as many cars have been developed with two different sizes.
