Goodyear ElectricDrive

ElectricDrive
The Goodyear ElectricDrive 2 is a next-generation all-season EV tyre purpose-built for electric vehicle drivers who demand the very best from their rubber. Unveiled at CES 2024 and representing the most advanced step yet in Goodyear’s sustainability journey, the ElectricDrive 2 is constructed from at least 50% sustainable materials by weight — including soybean oil, rice husk ash silica, and sustainably sourced natural rubber — without any compromise on performance, safety, or comfort. With SoundComfort Technology foam inserts, an asymmetric tread pattern for confident wet and dry handling, improved rolling resistance to extend driving range, and up to 20% better mileage than the original ElectricDrive, it’s everything a modern EV tyre should be. Fits Tesla Model 3, Model Y, and Model S, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Chevrolet Bolt, Audi Q4 e-tron, and many more leading electric vehicles.

Features and Benefits

  • At least 50% sustainable materials by weight: The ElectricDrive 2 sets a new benchmark for eco-responsible tyre manufacturing — constructed with soybean oil, rice husk ash silica, and sustainably sourced natural rubber, independently verified to contain at least 50% sustainable content, making it the most sustainably engineered tyre in Goodyear’s passenger range.
  • SoundComfort Technology with 20% thicker foam insert: A built-in polyurethane foam layer absorbs road noise and vibration — with the second-generation foam insert 20% thicker than the original ElectricDrive, delivering a further 3–4 decibel reduction in cabin noise for a quieter, more refined driving experience in the near-silent EV cabin where road noise is otherwise the dominant sound.
  • Asymmetric tread pattern for confident all-season handling: Wide circumferential grooves and an asymmetric tread layout provide strong hydroplaning resistance and confident wet traction alongside responsive dry handling — delivering the all-season performance EV drivers need year-round across New Zealand’s variable conditions.
  • Improved rolling resistance for extended driving range: An aerodynamic sidewall profile and specialised low-rolling-resistance compound reduce energy loss as the tyre rolls, potentially extending EV driving range by 2–5% per charge — directly addressing one of the most important considerations for EV owners managing daily and long-distance range.
  • Long-lasting compound with up to 20% better mileage: The ElectricDrive 2’s tread compound is engineered for extended wear — delivering up to 20% more mileage than the original ElectricDrive, addressing the known challenge of accelerated tyre wear from the increased weight and instant torque of electric vehicles.
  • Reinforced structure for EV load and torque demands: Built with a reinforced casing and high load index to handle the additional weight of EV battery packs, while resisting the tread slippage and abnormal wear caused by the instant torque delivery characteristic of electric drivetrains.

In order for us to give you an accurate quote it is handy to have your tyre size to hand. The easiest way to find this is to look on the sidewall of your existing tyre, where you will see a combination of numbers and letters.

Width: (this is the first set of numbers) and represents the width of the tyre sidewall in Millimetres.

Profile: This is the height of the sidewall as a percentage of the width of the tyre

Rim: This is the diameter of the inner rim in inches

When looking for your tyre size note down the size of both the front and rear tyres as many cars have been developed with two different sizes.
